Heritage Archives

Unique, rare or irreplaceable items of historic importance can all be scanned and digitised by SDS Scanning Bureau. Digitally archiving your precious documents not only ensures that you will forever have a perfect copy, and thus ensure the longevity of the content, but you will also be able to minimise future exposure and handling of the original.

Digital copies can be easily made available for study purposes, either online or via storage media. You may even be able to generate a revenue from your heritage archives. We can even help set-up and curate your digitized heritage archive.

We are very experienced in scanning fragile and rare publications through work with the Petrie Museum of Ancient Egyptian Archaeology, the London Geological Society (its Murchison Notebooks), and in scanning property deeds for the John Lewis Partnership and British Gas that date back to the 16th Century.

In particular, SDS Scanning Bureau specialise in the archiving of:

  • Fragile books
  • Maps
  • Manuscripts
  • Journals
  • Photographs
  • Transactions
  • Publications
  • Minute books
  • Periodicals
  • Reports
  • Deeds
  • Diaries
  • Art
